Julie plec talks to E! online about Elena's choice and Alaric's future

"Four episodes of the choice!"

Yes, Plec says Elena will make a decision between Stefan and Damon (can't she just have both?!) before season's end, but it will be an arduous road to get to that game-changing moment—a road that is romantic and heartbreaking all at once!

"Stefan and Elena and Damon and Elena fans can each look forward to an exploration over the next four episodes of where Elena stands with each of these brothers and where their relationship, both as a love triangle and as people who have been through a lot together, all stand," Plec explains. "There's a lot of romantic moments coming up on both sides and there's some heartbreak coming up on both sides."

Of Elena's exploration of her feelings over the final string of season-three episodes, Plec says, "I hope what people see when all is said and done is we're really been trying to let Elena, as Stefan so kindly encourages her, to figure out where she is in her life—who she is and what she wants and who she wants—to let her honestly and truthfully make that decision for herself."

But will fans see any hot lip action between Elena and either of the Salvatore brothers soon? It's kind of been a while, no? "I'll never tell, but I'm not saying no!" Plec teases.

While some fans are biting their nails over Elena's version of Sophie's Choice, we think it's safe to say all TVD fans are stressing over fan favorite Alaric's future on the show ever since news broke that Matt Davis had landed the lead role in the CW's drama pilot Cult, which recently wrapped production in Vancouver. So if Cult is picked up to series by the CW in May, what will it mean for Davis' future on Vampire Diaries?

"My hope is that Matt Davis gets everything he wants in the form of this new show, but also that we get everything we want and he wants, which is an eternity of Alaric in our world," Plec says. An eternity of Alaric?! Wheeee!

Unfortunately, we'll probably have to get used to watching everyone's favorite (most likely alcoholic) high school history teacher/semiretired vampire hunter suffer. We're hearing this Thursday's episode is going to be a super-dark one for Ric as we get another glimpse of his serial killin' alter ego. "He's got a lot of good stuff coming up and he's doing it really well," Plec says of Davis.

The Vampire Diaries airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on the CW.

Spoiler : Julie plec on Elenas decision between the brothers in the season finale

Vampire Diaries executive producer Julie Plec has confirmed that the upcoming season finale will see Elena (Nina Dobrev) make a choice between the Salvatore brothers.

The love triangle between Elena and vampire brothers Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) has intensified over recent episodes.

In an interview with HitFix, Plec suggested that the episode will provoke a strong reaction from the show's fanbase, many of whom identify themselves firmly as either 'Stelena' or 'Delena' supporters.

She joked: "I might have to leave the country.

"No, for us it's really, really important that we took a good, strong look at Elena's character, at her wants and her needs, where she is in her life.

"Hopefully people who are fans of the show and fans of Elena and fans of real human behaviour will understand and respect the choice that she makes, in spite of a percentage being very sad and another percentage being happy.

"So we shall see, but it is not going to be pretty, I'll tell you that."

Asked whether this would be the final resolution, Plec responded: "No, absolutely not!

"This show is a journey of a teenage girl finding her way back to life through the love of one vampire and discovering maybe other elements of life through the love of another vampire, growing up, graduating high school, moving on.

"There's a whole road for her still to travel and our brothers are in the middle of their journey as well. For us to say that this is the one and only choice and no other choice will ever be made would be premature."

Actor Ian Somerhalder recently suggested that the brothers will bond in forthcoming episodes, despite their shared affections for Elena.

Julie plec teases on Delena motel scene

"There's no denying that Damon and Elena haven't been on the best of terms over the last few weeks. He put some walls up after she rejected his big "I love you" at the ball, and she's not pleased with some of his decisions -- particularly his keeping company with Rebekah and the thing where he turned her best friend's mom into a vampire.
Some of those boundaries will come down when they take a road trip together in the next new episode, heading to visit Jeremy in Denver. (Haven't these people ever heard of planes?) Expect a very significant Damon/Elena moment -- supported by, as always, a powerful soundtrack.
I can tease one of maybe the Top 5 soundtrack music placements of all time, for the entire show, if not the world and the universe," Plec says. "It's a Florence & The Machine song that's just sensational.
As to what kind of moment the song accompanies, Plec will only say this: "You know, there's a motel. There's some bourbon. There's a little naked shirtlessness, and an epic, epic song moment."

Hell yes this sounds epic i can't wait and my little DE shipper heart is just getting more and more excited each time more news of this episode comes in

Ian Somerhalder dishes on Delena in S3 finale

E! online reported in their spoiler chat daily about what is to come for Delena in the season 3
finale.

DamonStan: Is there anything to look forward to for Delena fans in the last episodes of the season? #TVD
Why don't we just let the eternal stud himself, Ian Somerhalder (duh!), answer this one? "I think that Elena is extremely confused, but she's being very honest about it. She's extremely honest about her feelings for Damon and she's extremely honest about her feelings for Stefan," he tells us while promoting his foundation's upcoming Earth Day initiative, Clean Up Where You Live, Work & Play. "I think that her seeking out the way she feels about either one of them, where her heart ultimately needs to be and how it all works is going to make for some really good story telling. I know that the season finale, the relationship between the two of them, you see how much Damon cares about her." Translation: expect some Delena goodness in the finale!

Zap2it set the record straight on recent TVD rumours

"Vampire Diaries" fans, you're suffering through yet another hiatus at the moment, and we sympathize. We know you're fiending for any spoilery tidbit you can get about the episodes coming up after the break, and we're here to help you wade through all the rumors and figure out what's real and what's not. March 15 will come before you know it!
First of all, yes, it's true that the Gilbert parents, Miranda and Grayson, are currently being cast. Of course, these are Elena's adoptive parents (and Jeremy's biological ones!) who died when their car crashed off Wickery Bridge before the pilot. With Wickery Bridge in the process of being restored after the fundraiser, we're leading up to a big unveiling, which is sure to bring back memories for Elena.
Fans can expect to see a flashback to the night that they died, when Stefan tried to save Elena's father -- but Grayson insisted that he save Elena, instead. As reported by E!, the actors have been asked to take scuba lessons for the underwater sequences, though our girlNina Dobrev already has her certification, so she's all set.
(Any casting suggestions, TVD fans? Remember, they've got to be hot enough to be Jeremy's parents. Not to mention, Mr. Gilbert's got some pretty big shoes to fill as the older brother to David Anders' Uncle John.)
We'll definitely get some new information about that time in Elena's life that will impact the way we view Mystic Falls today. "The great rule of storytelling is... don't flash back if there's nothing that's going to change your life moving forward," executive producer Julie Plec says. "We'll have to see what we can uncover about that past that can would impact us today."
But we can promise you one thing: We're not going to discover that Elena's parents are, somehow, still alive. The actors cast as the Gilberts will be seen only in flashback.
"If it [ever] turns out Elena's parents aren't dead... I will probably be in retirement on a beach in Hawaii, and somebody else will be running the show," Plec assures us. "Elena's parents are dead, and it was a human accident, and a human tragedy. The night that Stefan pulled her out of the water and saved her life was the beginning of their love story, so I would certainly like to return to that night at some point and know more about it."
In other flashback news, we promised you that we would see Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) before the end of the season -- but we didn't promise you we'd see him in the present day. We're not entirely sure how McQueen is going to pull off playing 14 again, but Jeremy was generally pretty stoned back then, so maybe the magic of makeup will hide the fact that he's all man now.
You know we're pulling for some Matt/Elena scenes, too... but no official word on that yet! Consider our fingers crossed.
As for the rest of the rumored spoilers -- tread lightly. There's a lot of false information out there (and Perez Hilton's "source close to production" is not particularly close to production at all). We don't want you to get your hopes up for something (or start worrying about an upcoming death!) if it's not in the cards.
Here's what we can tell you: When Michael Trevino told us that Tyler, Klaus, and Caroline would never be part of a real love triangle, he clearly hadn't yet received the scripts for his return episodes! Tyler is coming back in a very big way, and the dynamic between him and Klaus is going to shift significantly. Right now, we're hearing that Caroline's heart remains with Tyler, despite Klaus' increasingly charming plays for her affection. Still, Klaus doesn't seem to be the type to give up easily.

Oh, was there another love triangle you wanted to hear about?

Delena fans, don't pack up your toys and go home quite yet. Though Damon and Elena aren't on the best of terms right now, things are going to grow more intense between them -- if that's at all possible! Though revisiting the car crash may stir up some feelings for Stefan and Elena, there are some passionate, powerful scenes coming up for her and Damon, too.

Let's just say that while he may have given up on pursuing her for the greater good, she's not quite ready to let him go yet.

julie plec dishes to TV guide on upcoming Delena loving

So this is what TV guide found out from Julie Plec:

When The Vampire Diaries returns on Thursday, Jan. 5 at 8/7c on The CW, Elena may finally be ready to say goodbye to Stefan and welcome in Damon's love. "[Elena and Damon] are trying very hard to understand that the Stefan that they know is gone forever and that he betrayed them," executive producer Julie Plec tells TVGuide.com. "Elena understands ... that ultimately it's time for her to move on with her life and not hold onto a ghost of her past."

When the CW series left off, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) believed their plan to defeat Klaus (Joseph Morgan) was foiled because Stefan (Paul Wesley) stepped in and saved him. What they didn't know was that Stefan did so to avoid Klaus' minions from then going after Damon. "One of the big things in the episode back, however, is when Stefan reappears in their lives," Plec says. "At what point do they start to understand the part he played in saving Damon's life and then what does that mean to each of them?"Although Stefan may eventually explain himself to his former love, he has one person on his mind, and it's not Elena. "Stefan is definitely acting from a place of aggressive and not completely rational spite [towards Klaus]," Plec says. "That is going to be a big issue for Elena [and she'll say], 'You could've handled this differently, you can be different, you could feel differently and is winning this war more important than the people you have to hurt along the way?' Right now revenge is definitely his priority." Meanwhile, Klaus will be quite the opponent. "We're going to continue to explore his vulnerabilities while also making him madder and madder and more violent and more evil," Plec says.

With Stefan off focusing on Klaus, Damon and Elena will continue to lean on each other — although Damon, Plec adds, will be back to "acting out, day-drinking, pouting and being generally curmudgeonly." But the romantic tension will build and Elena will have a hard time denying it. "Now that Stefan is out of the picture, in her mind there's a way to free herself up and allow that tension to come out and play," Plec says. "The question of 'Does Elena love Damon [and] has she been fully falling for him all along?' is going to be very much a part of the season."But life in Mystic Falls is never without complication and Elena will have quite a few things on her plate. First, there's the fact that she killed Rebekah, and when the Original sister gets undaggeredshe'll be pissed off, to say the least. Elena will also start to see how she's just as capable of destruction as her vampire peers. "Elena realizes that in order to survive and in order to protect the people she loves the most, sometimes she has to behave more like Katherine than Elena, and sometimes a dark choice needs to be made, a violent act needs to be enacted and it's troubling for her," Plec says. "So who is she really at her core? She's clearly not the girl-next-door do-gooder, she never has been."

Vampire Diaries returns Thursday, Jan. 5 at 8/7c on The CW.

Scoop on Damon and Elena's growing chemistry

So Zap2it's carina mackenzie managed to get some scoop on the developing relationship between Damon and Elena in season 3 from julie plec and here is what julie had to say:

in last week's episode, Damon insisted that Elena admit that she was worried about him, because, as he said, if Stefan does get his act together, Damon doesn't want Elena to forget how close they've grown while little bro has been gone. Their friendship certainly deepened over the summer, though all Elena would admit to was that she cares whether Damon lives or dies. It's not exactly the stuff of romance novels.

"There's yet to be an admission of that chemistry from her part," executive producer Julie Plec said in a Q&A that Zap2it attended on Wednesday. In the Oct. 6 episode, "Disturbing Behavior," Elena's refusal to admit to her feelings for Damon may be addressed."Next week's episode kind of illuminates that a little bit," Plec confirms. "A lot's gone unsaid. There's a big elephant in the room as far as all these fun little stolen moments and romantic banter and their dynamic with each other. It hasn't gone unnoticed with other people."With Stefan continuing to self-destruct (and to other-people-destruct, too), Elena's besties aren't going to let her stay in denial too long. "[As Elena is back] in Mystic Falls trying to pick up the pieces and get on with her life, it's the kind of thing that her friends and her loved ones are going to [point out]," Plec says. "We're going to have some fun with that."

So it looks like others are definately going to be picking up on Damon and Elena's chemistry and we did kind of see a bit of that through alaric last week when he said to elena "do you know what you're doing there?" after Damon left elena's bedroom. Also caroline and tyler dont seem to be buying that elena kissing damon was just a goodbye kiss. So it seems that eyes are being opened to their possible sizzling chemistry.

Kristin dos santos gives some Delena and stefan S3 scoop

So Kristin at E! has shared some scoop on Delena and wayward Stefan in season 3 she said "They are totally hooking up! But the bad news is i'm a very bad person for leading you on because they are hooking up in a strictly detective like fashion to find stefan." but she does offer hope and goes on to say "From what i hear, the dealio is that there won't be any hot and heavy romance stuff in the first half of the season. But, guess what it doesn't look like Stefan even wants to be found, and that may change things. I hear Stefan will be gone for the first half of the season...ish" so basically Kristin is saying that for the first half of the season Damon and Elena are gonna purely be working together to find Stefan, it sounds like elena is still very much hooked on Stefan and holding out hope for him, but when she sees how he has changed and finds out that he may not want to be found will she run into Damon's arms ? i guess we will just have to watch and find out.

Make sure to watch The Vampire Diaries when it returns at 8/7c on the CW this thursday

Ian on dreams of Damon kidnapping Elena in season finale

"The Vampire Diaries" stars haven't yet seen scripts for the inevitably epic Season 2 finale, so they're just as anxious as we are to find out how everything will come to a climax. "I'm just curious as to what the hells going to happen," series star Ian Somerhalder tells MTV. "Season 1 was such a great journey and it took us all for a ride. I don't know anything. Which is kind of like life."

Not having a script to flip through doesn't stop Somerhalder from imagining his own personal dream ending for the season. "What I would like to see is, is I would like to see Damon kidnap Elena and then go to the Caribbean," he says. "We'll go to Paris first, then they go looking for her, and then they disappear to the Caribbean for a season or something, while everyone frantically searches for them."

Yes, 'shippers, Somerhalder is firmly on Team "Delena." The way things stand right now, kidnapping may be Damon's only chance -- Nina Dobrev tells us that as far as Elena is concerned, she's totally devoted to Stefan (Paul Wesley). "Elena loves Damon and cares about him, but she's not in love with him," she says. "She's in love with Stefan."

Hmm. Somehow we don't see Stefan as the whisk-her-off-to-the-Caribbean type.

"The Vampire Diaries" returns on April 7 at 8 p.m. on The CW.

Ian is rooting for Delena ?

Somerhalder says we're likely to see Damon attempt to be more closed off, like he was when we first met him in the first season. "He is trying to be flippant, he is trying to be as deflective as he can while enjoying himself, and seducing women and compelling journalists and getting his way, kind of being a dick in many ways," he says. In other words, he's trying to be someone Elena doesn't necessarily want to be around.

One problem -- try as he might to be the selfish, reckless man he once was, his attachment to her just won't let him cross that line. "At the end of the day, as opposed to him and his love for Katherine being the motive, it's him and his love and protection mode for Elena as well. It's not just to win. It's not just to slay everybody."

Damon isn't going to actively go after his brother's girl in the near future, though. He recognizes that he and Stefan need to team up and be on the same page if they have any hope of keeping Elena safe.

Meanwhile, that wall that Damon is trying so hard to keep up is no match for Elena's charms.

"As much of a dick as he is to her, and as many problems as he actually causes her, she inexorably, always, at the end of the day, feels for him and expresses that feeling and sort of love, in a way," Somerhalder says. "He always, always will deflect, and she tries to break down that barrier, not with much success, much to her chagrin, but she does attempt to."

After all, Damon isn't the only one in that non-relationship who is vulnerable. It's become increasingly clear that Elena's guard is up, too. For now. "She's starting to chip away at his wall, and in the same sense, he's starting to chip away at her wall," he tells us.
