The film is adapted from Stephen Chbosky's coming-of-age tale, which follows Charlie (Logan Lerman) as he navigates the trials of high school with the help of his new upperclassmen friends, Sam (Emma) and Patrick (Ezra Miller). They bring Charlie out of his shell and make him feel like he's part of something bigger than himself. But as he begins to fall for Sam, things get complicated—such is the life of a teenager. Nina plays Candace.
